Community members from Elkhart, St. Joseph, and Kosciusko Counties in Indiana came together for a powerful and groundbreaking evening of truth-telling, creative resistance, and collective healing at Speak Our Truth Project: Mic Check — Voices for the Movement, held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at LangLab in South Bend, Indiana.
Sponsored by Rio’s Rainbow, this first-of-its-kind cross-county collaboration amplified the voices of youth, artists, and advocates—and, in a profound and unprecedented moment, law enforcement representatives from all three counties. Through spoken word and lived experience, participants shared reflections from within the school-to-prison pipeline and explored how children’s behaviors are increasingly addressed by overwhelmed and under-resourced systems.
